Ingredients
Scale
Dough:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Sauce:
- 1 1/4 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Melt Butter and Garlic: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, stirring frequently.
- Add Flour and Milk: Sprinkle in the flour and whisk continuously for 1 minute. Slowly pour in the milk while whisking to prevent lumps, then add the heavy cream.
- Thicken Sauce: Whisk until the sauce thickens, about 3–5 minutes. Stir in salt, pepper, oregano, basil, and red pepper flakes if using.
- Finish Sauce: Remove from heat and stir in the Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Let cool slightly before using as a pizza sauce.
Notes
- For extra flavor, roast the garlic cloves before adding.
- Sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
