Chicken:
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
White Barbecue Sauce:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the White Barbecue Sauce: In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, horseradish, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper until smooth. Reserve 1/2 cup of the sauce for serving.
- Marinate the Chicken: Place chicken in a large resealable bag or shallow dish and pour the remaining sauce over it. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably 4–6 hours.
- Grill the Chicken: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade and grill for 5–6 minutes per side or until cooked through and slightly charred.
- Rest and Serve: Let chicken rest for a few minutes before serving. Serve with reserved white barbecue sauce on the side or drizzled over the top.
Notes
- This Alabama-style white barbecue sauce is tangy and creamy with a kick.
- It also pairs well with grilled pork or turkey.
- For extra flavor, baste the chicken with reserved sauce during the last few minutes of grilling.
