Description

This Sweet Orange Glazed Chicken recipe combines tender chicken with a flavorful, sweet and tangy orange glaze. It’s a simple yet impressive dish that is perfect for a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Chicken:

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Orange Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup orange juice (fresh or bottled)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Orange zest and chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken: Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook for 5–6 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. Make the glaze: In the same skillet, add orange juice, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, and ginger if using. Bring to a simmer and cook for 2–3 minutes. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue to cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy, about 1–2 minutes.
  4. Glaze the chicken: Return the chicken to the skillet and coat with the glaze, simmering for another 1–2 minutes. Garnish with orange zest and chopped green onions. Serve warm with rice or steamed vegetables.
