Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line two 9-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the Chocolate Cake: In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed. Stir in boiling water. Divide batter between pans and bake for 30–35 minutes. Cool.
  3. Make the Strawberry Filling: Cook strawberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice until thickened. Cool.
  4. Create the Chocolate Frosting: Beat butter and cocoa powder, then add powdered sugar and cream. Mix in vanilla and salt until fluffy.
