Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Mix in dry ingredients: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Prepare spiced sugar coating: In a small bowl, combine the rolling sugar with cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
- Shape and coat dough: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each in the spiced sugar mixture.
- Bake: Place on prepared baking sheets, bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft.
- Cool and serve: Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
