- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 1/4 cups hot water
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
- Mix the batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, and cocoa powder. Stir in milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth. Spread the batter in the dish.
- Prepare the topping: In a separate bowl, mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa powder. Sprinkle over the batter. Slowly pour hot water over the top without stirring.
- Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until set on top and gooey below. Cool for 10 minutes before serving warm.
- Serve: Spoon into bowls and enjoy, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
