Description

Tender and flavorful Smoky BBQ Oven Ribs that are perfect for a delicious meal. These ribs are seasoned with a smoky spice rub, slow-cooked in the oven, then finished with a sticky barbecue sauce glaze. A classic and mouthwatering dish that will have everyone reaching for seconds!

Ingredients

Scale

Ribs:

  • 2 racks baby back pork ribs (about 4 pounds)

Spice Rub:

  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Barbecue Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Remove the silver skin membrane from the back of the ribs.
  2. Prepare the Spice Rub: Mix the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne. Rub the mixture over both sides of the ribs.
  3. Bake the Ribs: Wrap the ribs in foil and bake for 2 1/2 to 3 hours until tender.
  4. Glaze with Barbecue Sauce: Brush the ribs with barbecue sauce, increase oven temperature, and bake until caramelized.
  5. Serve: Rest the ribs before slicing and serve with extra BBQ sauce.

Notes

  • For extra smokiness, add a dash of liquid smoke to your BBQ sauce.
  • Finish the ribs on a hot grill for 5 minutes for a smoky charred finish.
