Description

A comforting and easy-to-make One Pot Goulash recipe that is perfect for a hearty family dinner. This American classic is a flavorful combination of ground beef, tomatoes, macaroni, and savory spices, all cooked together in one pot for a convenient and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef Mixture:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Sauce and Seasonings:

  • 1 (15-oz) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (15-oz) can diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Additional Ingredients:

  • 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ground Beef Mixture: Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking into crumbles. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Cook Goulash: Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer, then add elbow macaroni. Cover and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
  3. Finish and Serve: Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese if desired. Let sit for 5 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

  • You can add diced bell peppers or mushrooms for extra vegetables.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes.
  • Leftovers taste even better the next day as flavors develop.
