- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (plus more for rolling)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the baking sheet: Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the vanilla extract.
- Combine dry ingredients: Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined. Stir in the chopped nuts.
- Form dough and bake: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
- Cool and coat: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while still warm. Place on a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, roll again in powdered sugar for a classic snowball finish.
