  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice and prepare rolls: Slice the entire sheet of King’s Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. Place the bottom half on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Prepare cream cheese mixture: In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Assemble the danish: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom layer of the rolls. Spoon and gently spread the strawberry jam over the cream cheese layer. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling and gently press down.
  5. Brush with egg wash and bake: Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a golden finish. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown and the filling is set.
