Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla extract until combined. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Shape the cookies: Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart. Press two overlapping indentations into the center of each cookie to create a heart shape.
- Fill and bake: Fill each heart-shaped indent with jam. Bake for 12–14 minutes until lightly golden. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Finish: Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
