Scale
Vegetables
- 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
Seasonings & Oils
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Garnishes (Optional)
- Grated Parmesan cheese
- Red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat to ensure it’s hot enough for grilling the asparagus evenly and achieving a nice char.
- Prepare Asparagus: Place the trimmed asparagus in a large bowl or on a tray. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt and black pepper. Toss well to coat each spear evenly with the seasoning and oil.
- Arrange on Grill: Lay the asparagus spears perpendicular to the grill grates or use a grill basket to prevent them from falling through the bars.
- Grill Asparagus: Cook the asparagus for 5 to 7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are tender yet still have slight crispness with a pleasant char on the outside.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the asparagus from the grill, drizzle with lemon juice if using, and garnish with grated Parmesan or red pepper flakes as desired. Serve warm immediately.
Notes
- Choose medium-thick asparagus spears for the best texture and to avoid overcooking thin stalks.
- You can grill asparagus on foil or in a grill basket for easier cleanup and to prevent spears from falling through the grates.
