Pasta:
- 12 ounces rotini or bowtie pasta
Caramelized Onions:
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Dressing:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh chives or green onions
Additional:
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Boil pasta until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Caramelize the Onions: Cook onions with butter, olive oil, sugar, salt, and pepper until caramelized.
- Prepare Dressing: Whisk together sour cream, mayonnaise, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and Parmesan.
- Combine Ingredients: Mix caramelized onions with dressing, add pasta, and toss to coat. Add chives and Gruyère if using.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. Season with salt and pepper.
