Indulge in these decadent and irresistible Easy One Hour Cinnamon Rolls (Ooey Gooey) that are perfect for a cozy breakfast or a sweet treat. With a soft, fluffy dough, a gooey cinnamon filling, and a sweet glaze, these rolls are sure to become a family favorite!

Ingredients

Scale

For the dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the glaze:

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Dough Preparation: In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm milk and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add sugar, melted butter, egg, salt, and 3 cups of flour. Mix until a soft dough forms, adding more flour 1 tablespoon at a time if needed. Knead by hand or with the dough hook for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 10 minutes.
  2. Rolling and Baking: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll the rested dough into a 10×15-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll the dough tightly from the long edge and slice into 12 rolls. Place rolls in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Glaze and Serve: While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla to make the glaze. Drizzle over the warm rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

  • To save time, you can speed up dough rising by placing it in a slightly warm oven (turned off).
  • These rolls are best fresh but can be stored in an airtight container and reheated briefly for a soft, gooey texture.
