Ingredients
Cod Fillets:
4 cod fillets (about 4–6 oz each)
Buttermilk Mixture:
1 cup buttermilk, 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
Breading:
1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup cornmeal, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Additional:
vegetable oil for frying, 4 sandwich buns (toasted), lettuce leaves, tomato slices, tartar sauce or mayo
Instructions
- Soak Cod: Combine buttermilk and hot sauce, soak cod for 15–20 minutes.
- Prepare Breading: Mix flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- Fry Cod: Dredge soaked cod in breading, fry in hot oil until golden brown.
