Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease/flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or Bundt pan.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream butter and 1 1/4 cups sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla.
  3. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Add dry ingredients to wet mixture in three parts, alternating with milk.
  4. Prepare Chocolate Batter: Whisk cocoa powder, hot water, and 1/4 cup sugar until smooth. Mix 1/3 of vanilla batter into cocoa mixture.
  5. Marble the Batter: Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters into pan alternately. Swirl batters together with a knife.
  6. Bake: Bake for 50–60 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve: Cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
