Ingredients
Scale
Dough:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Coating:
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix butter and cream cheese: In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter and cream cheese together until smooth and creamy.
- Add sugar and egg: Add 1 cup of granulated sugar and beat until fluffy. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
- Prepare dough: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Coat dough balls: In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup granulated sugar and the cinnamon. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and coat each ball in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Bake: Place the coated dough balls on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10–12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Cool and serve: Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon-sugar coating.
- If you prefer a softer cookie, bake on the shorter end of the time range.
- Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes before baking for easier handling.
