For the Chilli Beef:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound (450g) ground beef
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth or water
For Serving:
- 8 small taco shells or tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Prepare the Chilli Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion until soft, add garlic, then brown ground beef. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Cook until fragrant.
- Simmer: Pour in beef broth, simmer until thickened.
- Assemble Tacos: Warm taco shells, fill with chilli beef, top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and cilantro.
- Serve: Accompany with lime wedges.

- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based crumbles.
