  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

For Serving:

  • 8 small taco shells or tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chilli Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet, sauté onion until soft, add garlic, then brown ground beef. Stir in tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, cayenne, salt, and pepper. Cook until fragrant.
  2. Simmer: Pour in beef broth, simmer until thickened.
  3. Assemble Tacos: Warm taco shells, fill with chilli beef, top with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and cilantro.
  4. Serve: Accompany with lime wedges.
