Cherries:

  • 1 1/2 cups fresh or frozen pitted cherries, halved
  • 1/4 cup flour (for cherry toss)
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for topping)
  • Optional: coarse sugar for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a muffin tin with liners or grease.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: Combine flour, sugars, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Combine wet ingredients: Whisk melted butter, milk, egg, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Mix wet and dry: Add wet ingredients to dry and stir until just combined.
  5. Add cherries: Toss halved cherries in flour, then fold into batter.
  6. Fill muffin cups: Divide batter into 12 cups, top with sugar, and bake for 18–22 minutes.
