Ingredients

Caramelized Onions:
2 tablespoons olive oil, 2 large yellow onions (thinly sliced), 1 teaspoon sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/4 teaspoon dried)
Topping:
1/2 cup shredded Gruyère cheese (or Swiss cheese), 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash), 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
