Description

This Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet is a delicious and comforting one-pan meal that is perfect for a quick and easy dinner. Tender cabbage, flavorful ground beef, and a blend of spices come together to create a hearty dish that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Cabbage and Ground Beef Skillet:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 small head green cabbage (cored and chopped)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet or sauté pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add the chopped onion and garlic and sauté for 2–3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the chopped cabbage and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to wilt.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine everything well.
  5. Cover and simmer on low heat for 10–12 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender.
  6. Uncover and sprinkle cheese on top, if desired. Let it melt before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley.
