Brown Sugar Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, butter, and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the butter melts and the mixture begins to bubble.
- Continue to cook and stir for 4–5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the salt and vanilla extract.
- Let the sauce cool slightly before using—it will thicken more as it cools.
