- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
For garnish:
- powdered sugar
- extra apple slices or mint (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the pastry layers: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the gluten-free puff pastry, cut into 12 rectangles, sprinkle with sugar, bake until golden and crisp. Cool.
- Prepare the apples: Cook sliced apples, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon until tender. Set aside.
- Make the custard: Heat milk, whisk sugar, egg yolks, cornstarch, pour in hot milk, cook until thickened. Stir in butter and vanilla, cool.
- Assemble: Layer pastry, custard, apples. Repeat, top with pastry. Dust with powdered sugar, garnish.
